Pirate Adventure (Shuttle)

The Adventure, like the Avenger, is a modified TSN Fighter. As such, it is only capable of carrying two or three passengers, in addition to the pilot. At least one Adventure will be carried on every Pirate vessel. The pilot commands that shuttle as a separate crew station of the ship.

The Adventure's origins as a fighter craft make it a little more suitable than the standard shuttle for combat, although it is still intended for light raiding and infiltration, and not direct assault. It has very powerful shields in comparison to a fighter, and its beam has the same fire rate as the Avenger, giving it about 25% more damage than most shuttles. It has the usual Boost engine, and can go Warp 0.3, the same as a TSN Fighter. Unfortunately, it carries no missiles.

Scripted missions may make use of the shuttle to perform certain tasks, such as picking up anomalies or transporting a dignitary from one base to another. Unfortunately, at this time there is not much use for shuttles in the other mission modes. The Adventure's single beam is sufficient to shoot down drones, and although the Pirates currently have no Missile Cruiser class, the Adventure can provide point defense duties for a Strongbow or Brigantine, or even serve as a high shielding, low damage tank for the squadron. In Artemis 2.7, shuttles gained the ability to pick up anomalies for their home ship, even in non-scripted modes.

If the Adventure is destroyed, there are no replacement shuttles available from base stations, in most game modes. However, in a scripted mission either an Adventure or a TSN Shuttle may be available from a base station. If a script specifies a replacement shuttle at a base, instead of leaving it as a fighter, it must specify the exact type, for instance a TSN Shuttle. So the script will have to be written specifically for Pirates for an Adventure to be available. (At this time, an Adventure can also be replaced by an Avenger from a base station if the shuttle is destroyed. It is not known if this will change in future revisions.)

The pilot of an Avenger requires information from the Science officer on the location of anomalies in the area, as well as enemies that may be a threat. The Adventure definitely requires protection from Weapons if launched in combat, as it can be overwhelmed by enemy fighters or capital ships. The Adventure cannot dock with a base, or any other capital ship besides its home ship. At this time, shuttles do not use energy, and can go anywhere on the map, if given enough time to get there.
