About

Artemis Extender is a program developed by players (not affiliated with Artemis author Thom Robertson).

It introduces hotkeys and new ways to control the game.

This program will allow you to:

  • Control Jump Drive from keyboard (do +/- 1/10/100), or set direction/heading by using mouse heading/distance from the ship
  • Control weapons console's "Auto Beams", "Next/Previous Beam Frequency", "Ene to Torp/Torp to Ene" buttons from keyboard
  • Control science console zoom and scan button from keyboard
  • And more...

Download and Install

Lastest version 12.11.10.1 is available for download here, sources here.

  • This program is made for Microsoft Windows operation system and requires .Net Framework 4.0.
  • No installation is nessecary, just copy the executable whereever you wish, run the executable and enjoy.
  • The program needs to locate Artemis in order to function correctly. It will look in the following places for Artemis installation:
    • Folder with the program
    • Folder containing the folder with the program
    • Artemis folder in the folder with the program
    • Artemis folder in the folder containing the folder with the program
    • On each ready drive:
      • Program Files\Artemis\
      • Program Files (x86)\Artemis\
      • Games\Artemis\
  • In simple words, if you place this program into Artemis folder, into a folder inside Artemis folder, or into a folder containing Artemis folder, you'll be fine, otherwise, Artemis should be installed in one of the listed locations in order to be detected.
  • If your Artemis installation is located elsewhere, or you want to specify some location as a first priority, you can create a file named ArtemisPath.cfg in the program folder, and you can add paths to this file, one path per line.
    • You can have both absolute ("C:\Artemis\") or relative ("Artemis\") paths
    • You can use .. to indicate going up one folder (like "..\")
    • Folder name must end with a "\" (for example, "C:\Artemis\", not "C:\Artemis")
  • The program will create a settings.binary file in its folder and store settings there

Running

  • This program must be ran with Administrator rights
    • If you do not run this program as Administrator, it wont work or crash on you
    • You can set "Run as Administrator" in program properties so you don't have to manually do it every time
  • This program WILL be identified as a keylogger/virus/malware by most antivirus programs:
    • This is because this program needs to make a global keyboard hook (track all keypresses) to react to your keyboard input while the focus is on another application  (Artemis)
    • Also, program is scanning and modifying memory of another process (Artemis) directly in order to control stuff like jump drive direction/distance
    • If you download the program from links on this page, you are perfectly safe, there will be no malicious code in the software, it wont steal your passwords, install backdoors on your systems, popup advertisments etc
    • You can download sources and check out yourself that there is no malicious code inside, and even compile your own executable to be perfectly safe.
    • In any case, it is your decision wether to use the program or not.

Demonstration Videos

In this youtube video you can see some functionality of the program demonstrated:

Interface Overview

Main program form has only three buttons - launch Artemis, close Artemis and open settings form.

Settings form allows you to change the hotkeys to any combination of Shift, Ctrl, Alt and a single keyboard key. You can also set two settings - a delay for mouse click action and delay for memory scan action.

How to use (basic):

  • Run the program
  • Open Settings and review the available hotkeys, changing them to your liking if you want.
  • Press "Launch Artemis"
  • Chose resolution as usual and start game
  • In game, after you click "Start Client", you should hear a positive "beep", this means that extender located nessecary values in memory and is ready to work
    • When you leave to main screen (screen with "Start Client" and "Start Server" buttons) you will hear a "fizzle" sound, which means that memory values need to be located again (and will be, when you click "Start Client" again)
    • If you do not hear positive "beep" after you click "Start Client" or a "fizzle" when you exit to main screen (with Start Client/Server buttons), something isnt right, please report this problem so a fix can be made
  • You can now use your hotkeys!

Tweaking the extender:

  • The program has two main parameters you can change:
  • "Mouse event sleep interval" is the amount of delay used when simulating mouse clicks.
    • This delay must be big enough so that the game correctly recognizes the clicks
    • It must also be small enough so you dont have much inconvinience
    • If the delay is too small, you will experience hotkeys not working properly (like, clicks will go where your mouse is at, not where the mouse is moved for the click)
      • If so, increase it by small intervals of ~10 ms until it works for you
  • "Suspension interval" is the amount of delay used when scanning Artemis memory
    • This delay should be set to higher amounts if you have too much lag when extender is actively scanning memory
