The Status Screen

The Status, or Info screen, like the Long Range Sensors and Tactical displays, can be displayed on the Main screen or less commonly, on a separate Data screen. The Status screen shares a lot of similarity with the Engineering console, in that it provides an overview of the ship's systems and all damage taken by the player ship. Unlike the Engineering console, however, it is not interactive, and does not display power levels. It is intended to be used to monitor the ship's condition and give a quick overview without having to consult Engineering. If there is no player manning the Engineering console, this display can be invaluable, but it is rarely used if the ship has a good Engineer.

The status values listed to the top left of the Status screen are shared with other displays of this nature, and give a overview of the ship's energy supply and battle readiness. Below this list, a second list of systems shows the damage each of these systems have taken. Systems at 100% are undamaged and working at full capacity, while systems at lower than 100% have taken damage, and will be highlighted in red (yellow if less than 100%, but greater than 50%) to indicate this.

Nodes on the ship silhouette displayed in the center of the screen will also appear in red if they are damaged. The diamond shaped markers represent Damage Control Teams, and if they are left on Autonomous control (as they are if there is no Engineering console selected) they will automatically move to points of damage to repair them. Unlike the Engineering display, the system nodes are not identified, and it is not possible to direct DamCon teams to a given node. However, if given enough time they will be able to repair the ship on their own.

The Helm and Weapons consoles both have a small display similar to the ship silhouette on this screen to the bottom right of their console. This display gives visual feedback when shields are raised and lowered, and shows damage to nodes as red dots, the same as here or on the Engineering console. This gives Helm and Weapons an indication of when the ship is about to be destroyed, and allows them to take immediate action to save the ship.
